This old postcard is of Chickland, near old Rt,1
Saugus MA. It has long since closed and been replaced recently with a Lowe's Home
Improvement Store.
The back of the card reads: Chickland, famous throughout New England
for its excellence in barbecued chicken. Open the year round from 12
noon. Dancing in main dining room. Cocktail lounge. Accommodations for
your private parties up to 200 guests. Complete year-round air
conditioning.
Can You Name This New
England Music Legend? We're seeking information about
Chickland and Adventure Car Hop, both of which were restaurants located in Saugus,
Massachusetts until the late 1960's. Any historical information and/or
photos, postcards etc would be appreciated. Credit will be given to
appropriate parties. Although this site is listed as "For Sale" I would
prefer to keep it if I can find enough content. It will then be listed
under "History", on my website If You would like to contribute
content, stories photos etc
