Buddy HollyThe Day The Music Died. On February 3, 1959  Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J. P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson were killed in a plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa, together with the pilot, Roger Peterson. The event later became known as "The Day the Music Died", after singer-songwriter Don McLean so referred to it in his song "American Pie". Although it may be referred to as The Day the Music Died, their songs and music will live on.... forever.

Remember Chickland

Adventure Car Hop is the place to go for food that's always right. If you grew up in the Greater Boston Area in the 1950's and 60's you probably have some fond memories of Adventure Car Hop. If you listened to Arnie "Woo Woo " Ginsberg on A.M. 1510 WMEX (and who didn't) you didn't need any help finding it as you were constantly barraged with the Adventure Car Hop jingle. Do you remember?

"Adventure Car Hop is the place to go
For food that's always right.
Adventure food is always just so.
(You'll relish every bite!)
Out on Route One in Saugus,
Come dressed just as you are.
Adventure, where the service is tops,
And you never get out of your car."

Route One, Saugus MA, was our local version of Route 66. The dawning of fast food and even faster cars and those cars (and their drivers) needed a place to "hang out". I think of "Adventure" every time I see American Graffiti. It was sort of our own version of Mel's Drive-In.

Those AM radios would be blasting with Americas Top 40. If you were lucky, you had the latest in radio technology, rear seat speakers, and if you were ultra cool you might even have had a 45 RPM record player mounted under the dashboard. And rims, from where else but " Ellis The Rim Man.". Just tell them Arnie sent you!

Do You Remember Arnie's special sandwhich?Served on a 45RPM record! "The Ginsburger"? Or was it Ginsberger?
Solid Gold Oldies - Oldies but Goodies - Solid Gold Hits and Doo Wop from the '50s and '60s You can listen to an original broadcast Arnie Ginsburg on The Night Train Show on Cruisin 1961 complete with commercials of the original sponsors. If you grew up in Boston in the '50's and 60's this will bring back memories. The songs themselves are great, but Arnie Ginsburg makes it seem like a time machine. Arnie is still living having retired to a small town in Maine. He is 93 years old today. His D.O.B August 8/5/1926. He is a true legend.
